Moving house can be overwhelming. A bit of planning (especially around storage) makes a big difference.
We know storage inside out. There’s not much we haven’t seen. This checklist covers the essentials… what to pack, what to leave out and how to make the most of your unit.
Not sure about something? Just give us a call. We’re local, we pick up the phone and we’re always happy to help.
1. Choose the Right Unit Size
Too small and you’ll be stacking to the ceiling. Too big and you’re paying for air. We’ll help you find the right indoor unit for your needs – just tell us what you’re storing.
2. Pack to Protect, Not Just to Fit
- Use strong boxes not old supermarket ones
- Wrap breakables properly
- Label everything (future you will thank you)
3. Clean Before You Store
Our indoor units are clean and dry – keep it that way by storing clean.
- Wipe down appliances and furniture
- Empty vacuum bags
- Make sure everything is fully dry
4. Disassemble What You Can
- Saves space
- Reduces damage risk
- Easier to carry
5. Plan Your Layout
- Heavy stuff at the bottom
- Essentials near the front
- Leave a walking path if you’ll need to access anything mid move
6. Don’t Have a Lock? We’ve Got You Covered
Our indoor units are individually locked, so you’ll need a padlock.
You can bring your own or grab one from us – we sell quality locks onsite.
Whichever you choose, make it a solid one. A good lock means peace of mind.
7. Label Everything (Yes, Everything)
- Use clear labels or colour coded tape
- Mark at least two sides
- Be specific – “kitchen stuff” won’t cut it
8. Keep a “Do Not Store” Pile
Some things should stay with you:
- Passports, documents
- Phone chargers
- Tools, light bulbs
- Kettle, coffee, sanity 😉
9. Book Early
Don’t leave it until the week of the move. Our indoor units fill fast – especially around school holidays and summer.
10. Talk to Us First
We’re local. We’re not a franchise. We’ll help you work out what you actually need – no upselling just practical advice and storage that works.

Bonus Tip – Redirect Your Mail (Seriously)
You’ve packed the house, labelled the boxes and dropped the keys off. Job done, right?
Not quite.
Your mail is still turning up at your old address… and unless you want your bank statement opened by a total stranger, it’s time to redirect it.
